Excursions

We have organized three different excursions for this year’s PhD seminar: They will all take place on Friday afternoon with varying duration so that you can schedule your return trips accordingly.

  1. Wind tunnels at the Department of Aero- and Gas Dynamics (IAG) at the University of Stuttgart.
    When: 2 p.m.
Where: In front of conference location, building 47 (downstairs)
    Duration: ca. 1.5hrs

  2. Virtual reality lab at the High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS). We will visit the CAVE lab and get a guided tour through the facility.
    When: 2 p.m.
Where: In front of conference location, building 47 (downstairs)
    Duration: ca. 1.5hrs

  3. SWE complex terrain wind measurement facilities at Schnittlingen (~1hr drive). We will get a guided tour through the different LiDAR measurement devices installed, the met mast and the historical Ulrich-Hütter test site.
Where: Bus stop at the roundabout between Comundo Hotel and S-train station (48.745709, 9.107286, see here)
When: 12:45 p.m. (we like to ask you to have a quick lunch before the excursion because of heavy traffic on Friday afternoon)
Duration: ca. 5hrs (depends on the traffic but we should be back by 6.30pm, drop off at airport or S-train is possible)

If you want to take part, please choose one of these excursions at the registration desk as soon as you register for the conference.
